PIANIST & COMPOSER
Marco Mezquida is one of the most sought after jazz musicians not only in Catalonia but also abroad. He is a four-time Best Jazz Musician awardee (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015) by the Jazz Music Association of Catalonia, he has two Enderrock Awards, and his record My Friend Marko was also awarded as Best Jazz Album (2014).
Being only 32 years old, Marco has participated in more than 40 albums (5 solo albums), many of which have been recorded for international companies such as Fresh Sound New Talent. He has played in jazz festivals in over 30 countries, as well as in jazz clubs worldwide, such as the New York’s Blue Note, San Francisco’s SF Jazz, Berlin’s A Trane, Paris’ Sunside, Munich’s Unterfahrt, Amsterdam’s Bimhuis, Viena’s Porgy and Bess, Budapest’s BMC, Brussel’s Jazz Station, St Petersburg’s JFK, Osaka’s Blue Train and Barcelona’s Jamboree.
His busy international agenda leaves him little spare time, yet he makes the most of it collaborating with artists such as Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Chicuelo, or composing original soundtracks for theatre, such as the Catalan version of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (Teatre Lliure 2016) or his two collaborations with us: A Little Prince and A New Beginning.
